Stadium lighting

Light excites

Stadiums and sports facilities have to withstand so many pressures: stresses and strains from the sport itself and also from the fans. The lighting systems therefore have to be robust and durable. At the same time, high-intensity lighting for the playing field and the spectator areas has to be as efficient and economical as possible.

In football stadiums throughout the world, at the kart track in Dubai and in baseball stadiums in the USA, high-wattage POWERSTAR HQI-TS short arc (1,000-2,000 W) and -T (1,000-2,000 W) lamps show their true sporting spirit. With their extremely short arc, double-ended base and lack of outer bulb they achieve truly impressive performance with extreme energy-saving economy. POWERSTAR HQI-T (250-400 W) lamps from OSRAM can even be integrated directly in the stands. All POWERSTAR lamps have excellent color rendering. That's good news for everyone in the stadium, and good news for TV viewers.

Stands

The lighting for the spectator areas has to be powerful yet low-cost. POWERSTAR HQI-T (250-400 W) and POWERSTAR HQI-E (for open and enclosed luminaires) lamps from OSRAM in coffer lights or pendant lights provide pleasant background lighting.

Facade and exterior

Stadium are often a characteristic landmark in a city. Attractive facade lighting can enhance the outward appearance at night and also make it easier for fans to find. Facade floodlighting can be achieved with POWERSTAR HQI-T (70-150 W) and -TS lamps. POWERBALL HCI-T and -TS lamps from OSRAM are ideal for emphasizing special details on facades. It is also important to provide adequate lighting to allow fans to move from the parking to the stadium in safety. Modern balloon luminaires equipped with POWERBALL HCI lamps in various forms and wattages provide high levels of safety and excellent visibility.
